As the news broke that there was going to be a new version of "the adventures of Hannibal Lecter" (if you can even call it that way), I was interested, but that too much. There are so many great TV shows nowadays, that I hardly have enough time to get in touch and watch the premiere episodes.
But, when next news spread, that the new Hannibal was going to be Mads Mikkelsen, I waited impatiently on the verge of collapsing. Me being fond of Mikkelsen is not enough said, that's for sure. Just recently he has had so many great roles in such wonderful films, like "The Hunt" or "The Royal Affair" that a full TV show seemed almost too much.

Berlinale 2013: Day 3
Today I saw "A Long and Happy Life", "Lovelace", "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman" but the stage was won undoubtedly by the cast of "Les Miserables" on a press conference!

European Film Awards 2012
Although Michael Haneke's "Love" has caused relative stir among audiences around the world, noone would have guessed, that it might get so many awards in Europe this year during European Film Awards 2012. Especially not when so many other wonderful movies have stood against it for the main prizes. To me, a fanatic of Mads Mikkelsen and Thomas Vinterberg dream duo ("Jagten") or Michael Fassbender - Steve McQueen's "Shame" it came as a surprise that none of these films actually got the most important nods. Hopefully this march for awards does not end here for them, it might only be a beginning of a wonderful journey for recognition. If you wish to have a look at the whole list of nominees, it's already in the blog here. Variety writes about it as well, The Hollywood Reporter and The Guardian follow.

Top 10: Contemporary Male Actors
A very subjective, personal Top 10 should be at this point in order. I've been meaning to start this blog with something like this, but had no idea, who should I put first, who last and if anyway such list had any sense. Now I think it doesn't have to have any sense. It's just pure pleasure. If anyone wanted to ask, why these particular actors, not any other, I must admit that for me, the most important feature is attitide. Toward acting, life, cinema. That's the most telling feature. Not the looks, films, life partners, status. Those vary. But what stays is the attitude. So here we go.
10. James McAvoy

Favorite roles:
"Last King of Scotland," "Starter for 10," "Atonement," "Becoming Jane," "X-Men: First Class."

The new Hannibal - Mikkelsen on NBC
A few months ago the news electrified the fans of the famous Dane - Mads Mikkelsen and of Hannibal Lecter. Mikkelsen will be the next Hannnibal in an NBC television production entitled simply "Hannibal". This can be a crucial twist to the known story from "The Silence of Lambs" (1992). The movie was awarded 5 most important Oscars, and so 20 years later the serial cannot disappoint. And it is not likely to! With such a cast, that includes also Laurence Fishbourne and Hugh Dancy it might be a hit!

A Royal Affair
This magnificent Danish historical drama, directed by Nikolaj Arcel is a defnite must see! It premiered on February 16th 2012 in Berlin, during Berlinale, and it took the festival by storm! The screenplay and Mikkel Boe Folsgaard were awarded with Silver Bears, and the distribution rights have been sold to many countries. About the premiere I already wrote in the post about Mads Mikkelsen, so check it out if you like, and here you can read my review in Polish (posted also before in post entitled "About Mads"): "Kochanek królowej" stopklatka and in English, below the poster from the movie.

About Mads
The last months have been a festival of Mads Mikkelsen. Several films have had their premieres, more still to come. I'm particularly waiting for "Jagten," but meanwhile, watch out for "En Kongelig Affære" - "A Royal Affair" (Polish premiere September 21, world premiere at Berlinale 2012, February 16th 2012) or simply rewatch "Valhalla Rising," directed by the wonderful Nicolas Winding Refn.
Mads Mikkelsen will surely be one of the leitmotifs on the blog, so watch out.
