Berlinale 2013: Day 3

Today I saw "A Long and Happy Life", "Lovelace", "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman" but the stage was won undoubtedly by the cast of "Les Miserables" on a press conference!
My full report in Polish to be found on FilmNews.

7. "A Long and Happy Life" dir. Boris Khlebnikov with Alexander Yatsenko, Eugene Sitiy, Anna Kotova
Some reviewers call Khlebnikov a Russian Ken Loach. I wouldn't probably go as far, but nevertheless this story of land, farmers, Russian bureaucrats and revenge is rather convincing, even if predictable at times.

8.   "Lovelace" dir. Jeffrey Friedman and Rob Epstein with Amanda Seyfried, Peter Sarsgard, James Franco, Sharon Stone
Seriously I didn't think that Amanda Seyfried can positively surprise me, and alas - she did. Her role was demanding and she really proved she's more that just a pretty face that can sing. I didn't recognise Sharon Stone at first, and without all the makeup she really is another person, that can act and show her real emotions. The rest of the cast - perfect as well. And the story? Well, I would like to know more of the background, some social and historical addition, there wasn;t too much of it there. Recommended nevertheless.

9. "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman" dir. Fredrik Bond, with Shia LeBeouf, Mads Mikkelsen, Rupert Grint
Oh, that's a misunderstanding. Really. Why would they put something like that in the competition? I don't understand it. It didn't make much sense, sadly.

Fortunately, this day was also marked by great press conferences, lots of pictures were in place. Enjoy!
