Watching New "Hannibal"

As the news broke that there was going to be a new version of "the adventures of Hannibal Lecter" (if you can even call it that way), I was interested, but that too much. There are so many great TV shows nowadays, that I hardly have enough time to get in touch and watch the premiere episodes.
But, when next news spread, that the new Hannibal was going to be Mads Mikkelsen, I waited impatiently on the verge of collapsing. Me being fond of Mikkelsen is not enough said, that's for sure. Just recently he has had so many great roles in such wonderful films, like "The Hunt" or "The Royal Affair" that a full TV show seemed almost too much.

The first episode leaves me puzzled. There are many unresolved issues, which should be continued in the next episodes. But, as much as I like Mikkelsen, the first episode belonged to Hugh Dancy. I would never suspect such great acting from him. His character is extremely interesting because of his social oddity, and everyone know that if you're unstable, you're the most attractive TV show protagonist (like House, Monk, Dexter and so many other). His Will Graham is also a mystery, his brain works on different levels, unrecognisable by regular people. It gets more iteresting than that, I can assure.
Mikkelsen had a more difficult task. We all know Anthony Hopkins as Doctor Lecter from the awad-winning movie, and so we all have some presuppositions as to what Lecter should look like, what should he say, and eat of course. Mikkelsen's Lecter is elegant, in a European way elegant, tailored suits, manner of speaking and behaving as well. His foreign accent does not bother at all, which is his huge success. Not many foreigners (if any), who do not come from an English-speaking country have a chance to have their own show in mainstream American TV. There is a hint of craziness in his eyes, and for me that's enough. We'll see where it all goes, and soon.
