David Bowie is... in Victoria and Albert!

"David Bowie is" is the title of the new exhibition presented in Victoria and Albert Museum in London. It opened on March 23rd, and will take place till August 11th.
It so happens, that the new David Bowie album, "The Next Day" has just had its premiere on March 11th. It is his first album in a decade and  was promoted by a wonderful clip starring Tilda Swinton, which made everyone talk about it, that's how stylish they both are.
Victoria and Albert Museum is the best possible spot to show Bowie, he is a musician, but also an actor and style-icon, always being ahead of everyone else.
As the museum states in their exhibition statement, the exhibition is the first international retrospective of Bowie's career, and includes plenty of his handwritten lyrics, costumes, fashion, photography, videos and set designs. Even his instruments! Yes, David Bowie really is...

Best dressed in 2012

It comes as no surprise that the Brits are called most fashionable in the world. It is really extremely difficult to find so stylish yet not over-dressed men anywhere else in the world. The trends of the season come from the Isles, and this is just a statement of facts. The 50 best dressed males are the essence of fashion, style and well-being. Best dressed, but also best groomed, and effortlessly. Below my favourite looks from Britain, there are some from the rest of the world, but admit it - they're anyway rather average. The list was prepared by GQ British Edition, one of the busiest magazine editions ever. Anywhere they turn, a new style is born.
The Top50 can be found here, but I've only chosen a few looks that I find particularly interesting. Not to mention the presenters.

A part of the year was his, due to his interpretation of Wronsky in "Anna Karenina." There, sporting a uniform, here, a smart suit. Both versions worth a nod.

Cultural importance of boots

If you ever wondered, boots actually do have a certain impact in pop-culture. They are not only a firm base of a style, but may be a manifesto - if worn adequately to occassion (or just the opposite, for that matter). Britain obviously has to be given credit for the development of particular looks. Without the knowledge of the origins, some senses from literature, film and music might be lost forever. Here's a quick guide to what NOT to miss when listening to the Beatles or Kaiser Chiefs.

Beatle Boots
worn from 1960s, they are tight-fitting, Cuban-heeled, ankle-high boots, with sharp pointed toe. Obviously it was the Beatles who made them popular, as originally they were actually made for the group exclusively.
They are the direct descendants of the Chelsea Boot, of which below.
During the late 2000s and 2010s they started to be popular again, due to new British indie rock bands.

The Look of Fall

Fall is one of the most stylish seasons of all. The flip flops and shorts are back in closets, T-shirts are quickly replaced by something warmer. That usually means new things and shopping for new styles. This season presents patterns mostly, but also cozy warm fabrics. The new H&M campaign astonishes, because it has one of the brightest new film stars, and from Sweden - Joel Kinnaman - the new RoboCop. But for the purposes of this post, let's assume that the British GQ forces new trends this autumn. As usual, the photos are marvelous. One of the reasons to have a look at them, even if not interested in fashion. Or, for that matter, in male fashion. Who said it is boring? (aka let's just look at Javier Bardem, Daniel Craig and Damian Lewis). 

All the Styles of the British Isles

British GQ, one of my favourite fashion magazines, has just announced the beginning of people's vote for Best Dressed British. There are a hundred (!) candidates for the trophy, and the pics are astonishing, you can spend hours staring at the styles! Well, fashion in Britain has always been of particular importance, and with the London Look, you just can't go wrong, no matter the occasion.
